What is film emulation?

Film emulation makes digital video look like it was shot on film. Good emulation models the film stock itself (color response, contrast curve, highlight roll-off) and the texture (grain and halation), instead of just adding a filter.

How do I color grade video to look like film?

Set the correct camera input for your footage, choose a film stock or look, balance exposure and warmth, then add grain and halation to taste. Osmo Film Emulation handles the color science, so you can grade by eye.

Is Osmo Film Emulation a LUT pack?

No. A LUT is a single fixed transform. Osmo Film Emulation combines stock color with adjustable exposure, color controls and procedural grain and halation, and it converts from your camera's log format first. The looks are also available as DCTLs for Resolve.

Which cameras are supported?

Most cinema and mirrorless cameras, including ARRI, Sony, Canon, RED, Blackmagic, Panasonic, Fujifilm, Nikon, Leica, DJI and iPhone Apple Log, plus standard Rec.709 video. Camera metadata is detected automatically when it is in the file.
