The role
Osmo is building software that helps people turn ideas into films. Our product brings together a creative editor, AI agents, rendering systems, and tools that let people shape what those agents create.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to build across that system. You’ll work on product features, APIs, integrations, and the infrastructure that connects agents to creative tools. Some problems live in the editor; others live in a service, a command-line tool, or an agent harness.
We value engineers who can take a problem from an early idea to reliable software, make thoughtful technical tradeoffs, and care about how their work feels to the person using it.
What you’ll do
- Build and ship product features across the editor, backend services, and rendering workflows.
- Design APIs and data models that keep projects, assets, and generated code consistent as the product grows.
- Build CLIs and tool bridges that connect Osmo with external applications, developer tools, and agent workflows.
- Develop agent harnesses: the runtime and orchestration around tool calls, context, permissions, retries, and evaluation.
- Improve reliability and performance through testing, observability, debugging, and thoughtful system design.
- Work directly with designers, motion artists, and other engineers to turn real creative workflows into useful software.
What you’ll bring
- Experience shipping and maintaining software that people rely on, with ownership beyond the initial implementation.
- Strong programming fundamentals and comfort working across application code, APIs, and services. TypeScript experience is valuable; depth in other languages is welcome.
- The ability to reason about data flow, asynchronous work, system boundaries, and failure modes.
- Familiarity with command-line tools, version control, automated tests, and practical debugging workflows.
- Curiosity about AI agents and how to give them reliable access to tools, context, and feedback.
- Strong product judgment and clear communication. You can work through an ambiguous problem with a small, collaborative team.
Nice to have
- Experience building CLIs, SDKs, tool integrations, or bridges using protocols such as MCP.
- Experience with agent harnesses, tool calling, streaming, or evaluation systems.
- Experience with creative software, video processing, WebGPU, WebGL, or rendering pipelines.
- Familiarity with React, TypeScript, databases, or cloud infrastructure, and a portfolio of software or creative projects you’ve built.
About Osmo
Osmo is building the AI-native motion graphics studio.
We help frontier startups, researchers, and creative teams turn ideas, designs, and raw assets into polished launch films, product demos, and cinematic explainers. Faster. With more taste. With real creative control.
Our tools already support launches for companies like Parallel, Basis.ai, and YC-backed teams, and that real-world use shapes everything we build. We’re backed by top venture capital firms including Bain Capital Ventures, MVP Fund, and Collaborative Fund.
Location
San Francisco preferred. We work in person regularly and there’s no replacement for sitting next to designers and engineers while building a creative tool. Open to exceptional remote candidates willing to travel for on-sites.
Compensation
Competitive salary base + meaningful equity.
We offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, a flexible work environment, and equity that reflects the early-stage upside of building a category-defining tool. Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.
